Sex and Religion

When this post gets on Facebook It'll be interesting to see who reads it!

As for religion, I've converted to the Methodist Church. They are much closer to my beliefs than, say, Southern Baptists. I know because I've spent time with people from both denominations. I've reading a super liberal Christian book called the Sins of Scriptures. This book questions the very foundation of our faith, the Bible. He already doesn't take it literally. Now he wonders if we should even trust some of the things the Bible says. Like the part about women not speaking in church. And I was reading Joel, one of the prophets, on Friday. It made the Israelites sound like Germans just before World War II--they just want some living space at the expense of the neighbors.

But I like my new denomination. They are tolerant and somewhat coherent. I really like the campus minister--he is a little quirky, and I always want to go talk to him.

As for sex--not really sex, but relationships. I recently ran into two guys that really liked me but I didn't like them so much. And I read the profiles of two other guys that I really liked but didn't like me so much. Turnabout is fair play. But I've been thinking about how much I want to meet people and find that "special someone." I remember something Andrew B said to me freshman year:

"I just want the person I'm supposed to be with to knock on the door and say, 'Here I am!'"

Right now I feel just like that. Because I know a lot of people, and I like a lot of the people I know (yes, there are some I dislike). And some of those people I like in that way. But as Bishop said, just because you like someone doesn't mean you're meant to be together. The point of this is I'm wondering if I should ask a friend out. It's a lot easier than asking a stranger out, but you don't want things to be awkward.

Anyway, I love ABC now. I watch four of their shows now. I used to be an NBC person, but then they got mushy (Third Watch), then I became a CBS person (CSI), then last year FOX (I love Prison Break), and finally the network that used to be mushy but now is okay.
